This UCR Jazz Ensemble is a traditional 18 piece big band, whose repertoire spans the last 90 years of jazz composition - from Count Basie to the cutting edge composers and arrangers of today.

In addition to three quarterly concerts at various campus venues, including our annual Guest Artist Concert, the ensemble also performs at jazz festivals and community events around Southern California.

Auditions for the Jazz Ensemble are held yearly, at the beginning of the fall quarter. Occasionally, additional auditions are held later in the school year to fill any vacancies. Participation is not restricted to music majors and is open to students of any and all majors who pass their audition.
