Scoring the Life of Cesar Chavez: The motion picture soundtrack of Cesar’s Last Fast.

An interactive presentation and conversation with composer Ed Barguiarena. How does music help transform documentary footage and interviews into cinema? Join in the discussion as Ed shares his insights and approaches to composing music for film. The discussion and presentation will focus on Cesar’s Last Fast (documentary: 2014 Sundance Film Festival) which tells the story of migrant farm worker/union activist Cesar Chavez, the civil rights movement he built, and his life-threatening spiritual quest in 1988.

Ed Barguiarena is a musician, composer, educator, writer, event designer, and an all-around creative professional. He has written music for film, television, modern dance, theater, songs, sonic collages, and more. He has presented concerts, workshops, and lectures for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Music Center of Los Angeles County, the Kennedy Center, Duke Ellington School of the Arts, San Francisco Symphony, UCLA, USC, and many others. In addition, he is the Creative Director for The Right Brain Project and Intersection Studio, focusing on creativity training and experiences, brand strategy, and story-telling in a grand context.
